Distance: 60 miles covered in 9 hours of cruising
Highlights: Surprisingly calm water allowed us to skirt past all of Queen Charlotte Strait. Upon arrival: kayaking in Lagoon Cove, spectacularly warm sunny weather and NO BUGS so relaxing out on the cockpit taking in the fresh air and peaceful views. Great end to a nice day: MOVIE NIGHT with Nicole! Also, the previous night at Miles Inlet will represent our last night on anchor together as a flotilla: tonight Seaquel enjoys the tranquility of being on anchor while both Journey and Beyond choose to dock at the crowded Lagoon Cove marina to have amenities.
Shore duty with Moxie and early morning fog seem to go hand in hand recently...
The narrow channels of Miles Inlet are evident as Seaquel waits for Journey (left) and Beyond (right) to pass to allow Mark to capture pictures...
Haha...a "traffic jam" at the main intersection of Miles Inlet, with one incoming powerboat (coming from the left); the anchored sailboat; and our flotilla passing through simultaneously (about to turn to our port from where the powerboat came from)…
In addition to the "traffic", somebody has chosen this narrow, primary channel to drop a crab pot. Probably not wise to add another obstacle in this particular spot...
Making the 90 degree turn out toward the narrow opening that leads to open sea...
Fog greets us in open water just past the mouth of Miles Inlet...
As our flotilla heads out, a flock of waterfowl (Surf Scoters?) heads in...
Hmmm...both fog and sun simultaneously. Which will win out today?
A little fog is tolerable if the seas remain calm...

Steering around some of the kelp beds that have already clogged one raw-water intake on this trip...
Nice to see a sailboat again, another indication of improving conditions...

The Lagoon Cove docks are nearly full with an Aspen Catamaran Rendezvous, but Journey and Beyond squeeze in among the other boats to avail themselves of moorage amenities...
Seaquel prefers the solitude, peace, and quiet of being on anchor vs. the busyness of marinas...
A short row away is a perfect dinghy landing to take Moxie to shore...
After two months, our flotilla will be splitting up and going our separate ways tomorrow, so Pam joins Peggy for one last kayak paddle together...
Mark's turn on the kayak, and Moxie gets another ride to explore...

Movie night - showing tonight: "Titanic"! Now that we are hundreds of miles south of icebergs, we can view this epic disaster, but with greater appreciation for the hazards they represent!

Relaxing with a movie and popcorn - and watching Titanic - seems appropriate now that the "Big Three Gates" to Alaska are finally behind us. Tomorrow we approach more familiar water and say our "goodbyes" to the flotilla as we anticipate arriving home within a week...
