Day 5: Bessborough Bay to Lagoon Cove to Joe Cove

Today's route: 43 miles and 5.5 hours of cruising time, highlighted by our 1st sighting of Black Bear...

Peggy takes her turn at the helm of Seaquel.  Probably means that Mark is shooting pictures...

Moxie stores up all her energy during these long cruising days, and can't wait for a walk on the beach!

We are pushing to make miles in Canada so we can spend more time further North in Alaska.  Also, typical weather pattern is calm winds and seas early, so typical departure time is daybreak around 6 am (this means rowing Moxie to shore @ 5 am)

Numerous dolphin accompanied us today.  This one came straight at Seaquel like a torpedo!

BEAR!!!
I've encountered bear when hiking before, but enjoying bear encounters from the safety of your own vessel is pretty cool!  Whales and Bear are near the top of our "must see" list for Alaska, and just a few days in (and far from Alaska) we are already experiencing some of the wild North country.

Peace and tranquility of Joe Cove.  Yet another remote anchorage where our three tugs had the place all to ourselves!

One of the blessings of intermittent rain: we see lots of rainbows!  God said to Noah: "This is the sign of the covenant between me and all life on the earth."  We can do without a major rainstorm, but the rainbows do remind us of the marvels of God's creation, including all of the incredible and precious wildlife we are blessed to encounter on our journey North.

Today was more awesomeness.  We go to bed in our cozy bunks at night excited for what the next day will bring, in terms of weather and seas, and especially for the scenery and wildlife that seems to get more dramatic with each mile Northward.
