Highlights (July 4): Mt. Roberts Tram for views and hiking, with Nicole!
Nicole is excited for an outing off of the boat, and a chance to show off her sun visor with such nice sunny weather...
When we launch Seaquel at home from the trailer, we board Nicole using the davit crane on Seaquel's starboard side. On this trip, when moored on a dock, Peggy & Mark use a "Two-Man Carry" utilizing the sling from Nicole's Hoyer Lift to be able to have a secure hold of the straps. Here's a video taking Nicole off the boat, into her 3-wheel jogger, ready for a day of activity in Juneau...
Walking along the July 4th parade route from the marina to the Mt. Roberts Tram (tram cables can be seen in picture below)…
After more than a month of solitude on Seaquel, it's odd to be among so many people (along the parade route); ironically less odd to be among dozens of Bald Eagles along the waterfront...
All three ladies from the Ranger Tug Flotilla - Pam, Nicole, and Peggy - enjoying a stretch of the legs and spectacularly warm weather...
Looks like we won't find any bears on/inside the tram...
Nicole is excited to ride her first tram, and see the sights from 1,800 feet above sea level...
Even the monstrous cruise ships begin to look small as we rise far above them...

Nicole found a Grizzly Bear...inside the gift shop atop the tram (it must have climbed up the mountain since bears aren't allowed on the tram)...

Peggy's "wingspan" is 5.5 feet: about half-way between a Red-Tailed Hawk and a Canadian Goose - but nowhere close to the remarkable 7-foot wingspan of a Bald Eagle...
Mark samples the impressive size of a typical Eagle's nest, which is 4 to 5 feet in diameter, 2 to 4 feet deep, and can weigh 2 tons!

Best ice cream cone ever: Huckleberry flavor on a waffle cone, in 82 degree heat. And Alaska-sized, nearly larger than Peggy's head!
A little "Surf & Turf" is on the menu at Seaquel tonight (since there weren't many calories in that huge ice cream cone!). Mark harkened back to his college days as a chef to create a home-made Hollandaise Sauce from scratch (3 egg yolks, half a stick of butter, and a half-lemon fresh-squeezed); whipped over low heat) and smothered over fresh Dungeness Crab to accompany New York steaks. Mmmm...

Tomorrow we look to fly up to Gustavus for our Glacier Bay tour, which will be our first (of many) chances to see glaciers close-up...
